PROTEUS (NI) Ltd. also provide a comprehensive range of training courses which meets the individual needs of project development officers, monitoring staff, selection panels and/or project promoters wishing to participate in the training courses.
Our strength lies in:
- practical approach (case studies, real scenarios),
- up-to-date information (ongoing updating of course material), and
- informative delivery format (group work, brainstorming, discussion, videos)
The following suite of courses is offered:
ESF Finance Regulations (half-day course).
This course will provide those personnel who are either managing or administering European Social Fund (ESF) monies with a user-friendly interpretation of the rules and regulations.
ERDF Finance Regulations (half-day course).
This course will provide those personnel who are either managing or administering European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) monies with a user-friendly interpretation of the rules and regulations.
Managing EU Projects – funders (1-day course)
This course is intended to help funders ensure that the organisations they fund will be able to implement their project(s), by explaining what the letter of offer means, what organisational systems and procedures need to be in place as well as which project record-keeping systems need to be implemented to deliver outputs efficiently. It also covers project publicity, monitoring and evaluation requirements.
The above course would be most beneficial to programme managers and project development officers within implementing bodies and funding agencies. The next course is a natural follow-on, either for the programme managers or specifically for the monitoring/verification staff or project officers within the funding agencies.
Verification Visits to EU funded projects (incl. Article 13 checks) – funders (1-day course)
Intended for funders who are managing and monitoring a number of projects contemporaneously and for situations where more than one funder is financing a single project / organisation. It covers project risk assessment, preparation for verification visits and on-site inspection of original documentation.
Selection Panel Training (½-day course)
This course is intended for the selection committees / panels of the funders, anyone who is involved in the assessment, scoring and selection of projects. The panels are often unsure of objective assessment and scoring criteria, transparent meeting and minuting procedure and appeal or review systems. This ½-day course will address these issues, and provide participants with practical templates which will ensure the highest levels of objectivity, transparency and professionalism in approving funding requests.
Project Management – projects (1-day course)
This course is intended to assist project promoters to implement their EU funded project(s) effectively, by explaining what the letter of offer means and what financial regulations are attached to it, and what systems they need to have in place to deliver efficiently. The course will outline the record-keeping, monitoring and reporting requirements of the respective funding agency.
The project manager should attend this course and, if appropriate, the project finance officer once the group received their letter of offer. It is of paramount importance that good systems are put in place at the early stages in order to facilitate the monitoring requirements. Project staff are also made aware of the benefits and implications of accepting an EU grant as well as the specific ESF and ERDF financial regulations.
Surviving Verification – projects (½-day course)
Intended for the project co-ordinators, trainers and project finance staff. This course will highlight the structure of a verification visit, how to prepare and present qualitative & quantitative project data and what to expect during the verification visit.
